Video Blog Of The Old Pitt Street Bridge In The Old Village Of Mt. Pleasant

The bridge at the end of Pitt Street in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant at one time spanned Cove Inlet and connected Sullivan's Island with Mt. Pleasant. The Ben Sawyer Bridge replaced the old Pitt Street Bridge in 1927. The city of Mt. Pleasant renovated the remains of the old bridge and created a pedestrian causeway to the foot of the old bridge which extends about 1/2 the distance of the original bridge. The bridge is a favorite fishing location for local residents. Additional information and photos of the Charleston area.
